Fernando is a PhD student in the Economics department of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. In the past, he worked as a research fellow for the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington DC. Before that position, he obtained a master's degree from the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics and a bachelor's degree from the Universidad de Piura in Peru. His research interests include the role of economic incentives in the health sector and, more broadly, the study of economic development.

Jared Gars is a PhD candidate in Applied Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and currently visiting Universitat Pompeu Fabra (since May 2016) as a PODER research fellow. He completed his undergraduate degree in Economics at the University of Florida and a Masters in Applied Economics at Purdue University. He has worked as a consultant for the International Food Policy Research Institute on the topics of learning, confidence, and technology adoption in Bihar, India. His main research fields are Development Economics, Behavioral Economics, and Industrial Organization.

Jess Rudder started in January 2017 as a research fellow at the Paris School of Economics working on topics related to industrial organization of the NGO sector. She is a PhD student in Agricultural Resource Economics at the University of California, Davis specializing in Development, Industrial Organization, and Econometrics. Prior to starting her doctoral studies, Jess completed a Master's degree from the Evans School of Public Policy and Governance at the University of Washington in Seattle where she worked as a research consultant for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Kilian is a PhD student at the Bonn Graduate School of Economics and a PODER fellow at the London School of Economics. His reserach interests are mainly in the field of public and behavioral economics with focus on combining theoretical and empirical methods. He holds undergraduate degrees from Bonn University in both mathematics and economics. For PODER, Luis worked with Professor Eliana La Ferrara on a project that explores the effects of political ownership of the media in dictatorship regimes. In his other research projects, Luis focuses on the effects of teachers’ political affiliations on education performance and students’ political inter-ests as well as on the effects of political participation on economic policy.

Lukas is a PhD student in the Departments of Economics at the University of Oxford and a PODER fellow at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Prior to his doctoral studies, Lukas studied at the University of Bonn, spent a year at UC Berkeley as a Fulbright scholar, and completed the MPhil in Economics at Oxford. Lukas’ general research interests lie in the intersection between political economy and development economics, with a particular focus on democratisation processes, political institutions and inequality, as well as political competition.
