Andrea Guariso

Andrea Guariso holds a MSc from Bocconi University, in Italy, and is currently a PhD student in Economics at LICOS (KU Leuven), in Belgium. Prior to his doctoral studies, Andrea worked for the European Commission and for the World Bank, as short-term consultant. Andrea’s research interests include development economics, health economics and political economics. In the past few years Andrea has carried out extensive fieldwork in Uganda and Rwanda. His research projects investigate the consequences or armed violence in Rwanda; explore the link between inequality and civil conflicts in Africa; and evaluate the impact of an innovative health program in Uganda. His project was a joint work with Martina Björkman Nyqvist, Jakob Svensson and David Yanagizawa-Drott and the evaluation is based on a large scale Randomized Controlled Trial.
