24 ESR and ER Fellowships Available across all Nodes

on Wed, 15/01/2014 - 11:22

The PODER network is currently not accepting applications for fellowships. New recrutiment rounds will be advertised on the homepage.

PODER aims to provide a new generation of European doctoral students with training in the latest techniques for the design and evaluation of innovative and effective policies to fight poverty.

The training will combine coursework and methodological tools taught at the academic nodes with on-site training in project management and data collection learnt from private sector partners, international organizations and NGOs. PODER’s research agenda will be organisedaround three work packages: 1) health, education and inequality, 2) private sector development, and 3) governance, political economy and institutions.

  • Training will involve student exchanges across nodes, participation in team research projects, and support for students’ travel and field work. The distinguishing features are:
  • formal coursework with emphasis on rigorous empirical methods and exposure to other disciplines in PhD courses, workshops and summer schools;
  • active participation in data collection and policy work in developing countries, attained through participation in impact evaluations;
  • internships with private sector partners who work on large scale policy implementation and evaluation, as well as with firms who invest in development countries for sustainable development;
  • opportunities to forge relationships with faculty and students throughout Europe through exchanges, workshops, and virtual networks.

The research will focus on the following topics:

WP1 Human Resources (Health, education policy and inequality)

WP2 Firms and productivity (private sector development)

WP3 The public sector (Governance, political economy and institutions)

Appointed candidates will be expected to carry out research on one or more of these topics and collaborate with local faculty.
