Policy Design and Evaluation Research in Developing Countries (PODER)

Current Fellowships Available (starting no later than 1st September 2016 if 12-month fellowship)

- Bocconi University: Informal institutions and networks in development (ER or ESR, 12 months); Intra-household allocation and gender in Sub-Saharan Africa (ESR or ER, 6-12 months); The role of the media in developing countries (ESR or ER, 6-12 months)

- Paris School of Economics: The Industrial Organization of the Aid Sector: NGOs, Donors and Recipients (ESR, 12 months) ; Shocks and Intra-household inequality: evidence from CCT or ECD interventions (ESR, 6 months)

- Facultes Universitaires Notre-Dame de la Paix à Namur: Informal Institutions and Identity Groups in Developing Economies (ESR,12 months); The political economy of NGO interventions (ESR, 12 months)

- London School of Economics: Understanding competition and the constraints on retail development in developing countries (ESR, 12 months)

- Stockholm University: Public service provision: Education (ESR or ER, 12 months); Corruption: Impact and Reforms (ESR or ER, 12 months)

- University of Cape Town: Schooling to work transitions in Africa (ESR, 12 months and another ESR, 6 - 12 months)

Please note that Universitat Pompeu Fabra does not have any vacancies for the remainder of the project.

Requirements:

Pre-Doctoral Researchers (Early Stage Researchers or “ESR”)

• Must be in the first 4 years (full-time equivalent) of their research career. This is calculated from the date they obtained a qualification (Masters or equivalent) allowing them to embark on a doctorate;

• The length of individual appointment will be limited to between 3 and 36 months;

• The basic living allowance for the Early Stage Researcher Fellowships is up to 38,000€/year + mobility allowance (€1000/month for researchers with family charges;
€700/month for researchers without family charges).

Post-Doctoral Researchers (Experienced Researchers or “ER”)

• Must either be in possession of a doctoral degree or have at least 4 years of full-time equivalent research experience;

• The research experience may not exceed 5 years at the time of recruitment;
• The length of individual appointments will be limited to a period of between 6 and 12 months depending on the recruiting node’s plans and as indicated in the table above;

• The basic gross living allowance for the Experienced Researcher Fellowships is up to 58,500 €/year + mobility allowance (€1000/month for researchers with family charges; €700/month for researchers without family charges).

All salaries are gross amounts and all taxes and social security charges will be deducted in accordance with the employment law of the country of the host institution.

Candidates must not be nationals of the country where they seek employment, or have legally resided or have had their main activity in that country for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the starting dates.
